Indigenous Virtual Learning Spaces
Project Type: VR Storytelling
Overview: Indigenous Virtual Learning Spaces: A Place Where We Learn is a collaborative VR experience, which brings together a group of students, led by a guide or Knowledge Keeper, to learn about Indigenous ways of life. The goal of the experience was to be flexible enough to allow educators from a variety of disciplines to use as a resource for their classes, so there is no narrative within the experience itself. Instead, a collection of interactive plants and objects offer details on their traditional names and uses, allowing the guide to focus discussion on relevant items, or self-guided discovery.
Roles: Team lead, UI / UX Designer, Unity Developer
Toolkit: Unity Engine, Figma, Adobe Suite
This project is completed and currently available for educators at Carleton University, through Teaching and Learning Services.
